1964 Ford Fairlane - The beginning
25-ish years ago, my brother called me to tell me his friend had a 64 Fairlane, and asked if I wanted it for $125. The friend's neighbor had it pushed into the alley, and was waiting for Victory Auto to come pick it up. Victory was willing to pay $100, so anything more than that got the car. So $125 later, and I was towing this thing over to my brother's house.
At first, I just wanted to get it running, but it had a 170 inline 6, and a 3 speed manual. The 3 on the tree was gone, and someone shoved the shifter through the floor. The trans support was gone and rigged and bolted directly to the floorpan, which was in bad shape from rust. So some online searches, and a plan was formed to replace the floorpans, drop in a 302 & a T5 trans, and turn it into something.
Well, it started out with good intentions, but as it was pulled further and further apart, more and more problems became apparent. Life kind of took over, and the car went into storage for a while. The a house fire, and the unexpected birth of twin daughters to add to my 3 sons, and it just kind of sat for a while. Eventually it made it back to my house, and a couple of years ago, work started up on it again.
This entry is back from those days 25 years ago, and show the front end off, and the shock towers getting cut out.
